Aiming to help others feel safe in more situations is our biggest goal at Elite Firearms

Gun safety rules are in place to help ensure the responsible and safe use of firearms. Common gun safety rules include always treating a gun as if it is loaded, keep your finger off the trigger, never point the firearm at anyone, and know what’s behind your target.

These rules are also designed to instill a sense of responsibility in gun owners and serve as a reminder of the potential danger firearms can pose. With these simple rules you can avoid any dangerous or potentially harmful situations and be a responsible gun owner.

When you enter any one of our store’s we also expect you to know these rules and give the same respect back. It’s a hard lesson when we have to awkwardly disarm you because you’ve accidently pointed a loaded gun at us, to innocently show us something.

We want everyone to feel safe through our doors.

The Four Universal Gun Safety Rules

1. Treat all guns as if they are loaded at all times.

This rule is important because you should always assume that a gun is loaded and ready to fire, even if you know for sure that it is unloaded. This helps to ensure that you will always handle a gun with care and respect it as a deadly weapon.

If you bring a loaded gun up to us and tell us your firearm is unloaded (Common problem), we will take the chambered ammo. This is a common rule in most firearms store across America, so please, don’t act shocked.  We expect every gun you bring into our store to be loaded.

2. Never point a gun at anything you don’t intend to shoot.

This rule is important because it helps to prevent any accidental discharge of the gun due to carelessness or negligence. We will also determine you a threat if you come in and point a gun at us. As you read in rule number one, most people don’t even know they have a loaded gun.

So when people come in and want to innocently show us something about their gun and they point it at us we will see you as a threat and follow precautionary measures to disarm you.  This is very shocking to people and usually follows with intense embarrassment. It’s a basic common sense rule, understandably so.

3. Keep your finger off the trigger

When handling a firearm, it is important to always keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot. This will help to prevent accidental discharge of the firearm.

At the range, this is a common problem. Do not put your finger on the trigger, unless you are in a safe position aligned with these rules and taking a  shot down range.  Do not point your firearm in direction of the walls, which will follow into rule number 4.

4: Know what’s behind your target

This means that when handling a firearm, it should never be pointed at someone or something that you don’t intend to shoot.

After I initially left a comment I seem to have clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and from now on each time a comment is added I get four emails with the exact same comment. Perhaps there is a means you are able to remove me from that service? Thanks!
